Hestan Smart Cooking Culinary Director, Philip Tessier served as coach for Team USA’s Chef Mathew Peters and Commis Harrison Turone. Chef Thomas Keller, a Hestan Commercial and Outdoor brand ambassador, is the President of Team USA.

Tessier brought home the silver medal from the 2015 competition, marking the first time Team USA placed higher than sixth in the European-dominated event. In 2017, Tessier built upon that experience to push Peters and Turone toward gold. In preparation for the 2017 event, the team spent a year diligently planning and training in the ment’or Team USA training kitchen located at the Hestan Barn at Hestan Vineyards in Napa Valley.

The Team USA facility was built as a replica of the one they would experience in Lyon. As the team developed and refined their arsenal of recipes and skills in the Hestan Commercial kitchen, they worked out together in the Hestan gym, and piped music to mimic the crowds that would attend the competition.

Colloquially referred to as the “Culinary Olympics,” Bocuse d’Or takes place every two years in Lyon, France. Chef Paul Bocuse created the renowned event in 1987 to highlight the culinary world’s best talent. In its 30th year, Bocuse d’Or drew the most promising chefs from 24 countries – and a rapt live audience – to its competition kitchen.

Hestan to outfit facilities on CIA campuses with equipment, products and services in support of CIA’s educational mission as the world’s premier culinary college

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 12 , 2016 – Hestan Commercial, maker of the most advanced commercial kitchen appliances on the market, has formed a philanthropic partnership with The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to provide equipment, products and services to multiple facilities on CIA campuses, including teaching kitchens, restaurant kitchen lines, theaters and conference facilities.

Recognized as the world’s premier culinary college, the CIA is an accredited, not-for-profit college, with campuses located in Hyde Park, New York; St. Helena, California; San Antonio, Texas; and Singapore. The CIA offers bachelor’s degrees in management, culinary science, and applied food studies; associate degrees in culinary arts and baking & pastry arts; and credit and noncredit education programs, consulting services, thought leadership conferences, and research and development for the food, wine and hospitality industries.

Hestan Commercial Receives 2016 Excellence in Design (EID) Awards for Tri-Ferrous French Top Range and Modular Salamander System

Prestigious appliance DESIGN magazine awards recognize creativity, ease of use and visual appeal

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 7, 2016 – Hestan Commercial, maker of the most advanced commercial kitchen appliances on the market, has been named a 2016 Excellence in Design (EID) Awards recipient by appliance DESIGN magazine for its French top range and modular salamander system. For the “Major Appliances and Commercial Vending” category, Hestan’s French top won the Silver Award and the company’s salamander won the Bronze Award.

Hestan’s Tri-Ferrous French top with maximum center temperature and gradient is available in 18-, 24-, and 36-in. widths. It features a thick-gauge, welded stainless steel radiant cone around its 35,000-Btu/hour gas burner. The cone traps and focuses radiant and convective heat within a controlled space below the center plate – resulting in as high as 1000° F at the center and as low as 320° F at the edges. This is the highest temperature delta of any French top.

Hestan’s longitudinal modular salamander and shelving system can be hung without permanent hardware by means of unique, hook-like brackets of heavy-duty steel for optimum rigidity and durability. This modular system, which can be switched from salamander to cheesemelter and back again, is supported longitudinally on a riser to allow complete horizontal movement – giving it the flexibility to be placed anywhere on the line for maximum functionality.

The EID Awards annually recognize new equipment and technologies based on their creativity, ease of use and visual appeal. An independent panel of design experts selected the EID Award recipients. All recipients will be profiled in the June 2016 issue of appliance DESIGN and featured on the magazine’s website at http://www.appliancedesign.com/eid, a permanent section dedicated to the competition.

Hestan Commercial hires Basil Larkin, VP Sales

Larkin brings more than 20 years of experience in the high-end appliance industry to his role at Hestan Commercial.

Larkin joins Hestan Commercial from Craftsman Republic, where he served as their Chief Sales Officer. Prior to Craftsman Republic, he spent two years as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Lynx Grills, Inc. In that role, he was responsible for sales organization and strategy, distribution management, and marketing and product management. Larkin earlier held several senior management roles at Viking Range Corporation, Whirlpool Corporation, BSH Home Appliances Corporation and HADCO.

Hestan included in French Laundry renovation

Hestan is thrilled to be included in the renovation of The French Laundry. In February Chef Thomas Keller signed on as spokesperson of the Hestan Commercial Appliances Division. He was drawn to partner with Hestan because of his ardent support of American-based manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Keller also provides valuable input and feedback to the design process.

“The French Laundry is being redesigned to be a backdrop worthy of the restaurant’s history,” Thomas Keller said. “With the Louvre Pyramid as my inspiration, we wanted to find a way to juxtapose the historic and the modern while maintaining the high quality cuisine and service our guests have come to expect from The French Laundry.
